I remember the last time this place was restored, but it is starting to look worse for wear as of late. Are they planning on doing it again? Is this place on the Historical Register? What an AWESOME home! (Even if it is on an INCREDIBLY busy corner.) Do you know what has become of Hodson’s Mansion since you featured it in an article about foreclosed homes in SB? What a gem! I hope it was sold to a loving owner who CARES about its historical significance and loves the home enough to restore it to its former glory. That house is AWESOME!

No word on the house at Jefferson and Eddy, 1031 E. Jefferson. The Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana calls it the Studebaker-Witwer House and suggests it was built in 1899, which is probably more accurate than the tax record date of 1888. The house doesn’t seem to be on any historic register, but the area is, the Howard Park Historic District, “Roughly between E. Jefferson and Wayne Sts., N. Eddy, and the St. Joseph River”

Hodson’s Castle, at 723 Park Ave was sold. Based on comments on the blog post by the listing agent and purchaser, the new occupants are restoring the home. In September they commented, “This house contiues [sic] to be improved with most of the renovations ocurring on the interior at this time. The ambitious couple hopes to restore the exterior to its former glory as well.”
